Fall Out Boy Biography

Fall Out Boy is an alternative rock band from Wilmette, Illinois. The band is a talented four piece with Patrick Stump on lead vocals, Joe Trohman on lead guitar, Pete Wentz on bass and Andy Hurley on drums. The band started as a cover band in the Chicago, Illinois area playing Nirvana and Green Day songs. They played two shows without a band name, but at the end of their second performance they asked to audience for a name. One fan yelled out "Fall Out Boy" in reference to the sidekick of Radioactive Man on the Simpsons.

While widely considered a pop punk band Fall Out Boy references the Get Up Kids, an emo band, as one of its main influences. They've had five studio albums, 2003's Fall Out Boy's Night Out with Your Girlfriend, 2003's Take This to Your Grave, 2005's From Under the Cork Tree, 2007's Infinity on High, and 2008's Folie à Deux. Stump and Wentz are the main songwriters for the band, with Stump composing the melody and Wentz penning most of the lyrics. Generally, the entire band is given writing credits.

Fall Out Boy have received notoriety in the music business having recorded with T.I, Kanye West, and John Mayer. Infinity on High is their most successful album to date having achieved double platinum status. Fall Out Boy is highly involved in charities, supporting Invisible Children Inc. and performing on the American leg of Live Earth concerts.
